Learning Outcomes

This year’s Mason Leadership Institute will focus on inclusive leadership. As a result of participating in the 2013 Mason Leadership Institute students will be able to:

  • Understand how power and privilege can influence one’s leadership style.
  • Recognize and identify what micro-aggressions are, how they compromise leadership effectiveness, and how they create barriers across difference.
  • Recognize how understanding and acknowledging one’s own identity development connects to one’s leadership presence.
  • Identify three strategies to effectively communicate across an array of differences with respect and civility.
  • Establish at least one new relationship with another participant attending the conference.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage and listen in challenging dialogues.
